Terms of Service
Last updated: 28 October 2026
These terms apply to the Heartbeat Monitor for JSM app and the backfillab.com website (together, "the service"), operated by Maxyme Tuffery under the name Backfillab ("we", "us"). By installing or using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. Issuegrid has its own terms at issuegrid.app/terms.html.
1. The service
Heartbeat Monitor for JSM is an Atlassian Forge app for Jira Service Management Cloud. It gives each monitored job a ping URL and creates a Jira incident when expected check-ins stop arriving. You need your own Jira Service Management Cloud site. The app is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Atlassian.
2. Monitoring limits
The app checks monitors on a schedule run by Atlassian Forge and depends on Atlassian's services being available. Alerts may be delayed or missed, for example during an Atlassian outage, if the app lacks permission to create issues in the chosen project, or if a monitor is paused or over your plan's limit. Do not rely on the app as the only safeguard for systems where a missed alert could cause harm to people or serious loss.
3. Your responsibilities
- Keep ping URLs secret: anyone who has a ping URL can send check-ins for that monitor. Regenerate the URL in the app if it leaks.
- Make sure you are allowed to use the Jira projects, people and, for the import, the Opsgenie account you connect to the app.
- You must not use the service to break the law, to overload or attack Atlassian's or Opsgenie's services, or to break Atlassian's terms.
4. Free and paid plans
The free plan includes up to 3 monitors. A paid licence adds unlimited monitors, failure reporting (status=fail) and automatic resolution. Paid licences are sold through the Atlassian Marketplace, which handles pricing, billing, trials and refunds under Atlassian's Marketplace terms. If a paid licence ends, the app keeps working within the free plan's limits.
5. Beta features
Features marked "Beta", such as the Opsgenie import, may be incomplete or change. Check the monitors they create.
6. Provided "as is"
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted or error-free operation. Atlassian and Opsgenie may change their services in ways that affect the app. Opsgenie shuts down on 5 April 2027; the import will no longer be available after that date.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, profits or business, arising from your use of the service, including missed or delayed alerts. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid for it in the 12 months before the claim, or 50 euros if you paid nothing. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
8. Suspension and termination
You can stop using the service at any time by uninstalling the app. We may suspend or end the service, or your access to it, for example if you break these terms or if we discontinue the app.
9. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what data the app stores and where.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top of this page, and significant changes will be announced on backfillab.com. If you keep using the service after a change, you accept the updated terms.
